March 16, 2023 Chapter X. A suspended officer Terror controls stones and trees before humans in the dictator’s country, and a sixteen-year-old boy who saw Air Force Intelligence raid his house in search of him and miraculously managed to escape to the wilderness with which he is familiar and familiar with survival methods will think a thousand times before risking returning. Due of this, a straightforward arrest mission evolved into a convoluted and absurd rescue operation. Following the discussion, the branch head asked him to come to his office for clarification—though obviously not all of it—in order for Major Basel to be able to take the upcoming shock with cool nerves and a steady breath. The Head: Basel, pay attention to me. You are aware of my high regard for your skills and intelligence. Your family or your father, who was one of my closest friends—may God have compassion on him—had nothing to do with this. Basel: I’m grateful, sir. I’ll try to meet your standards. – Please have an open mind as I speak; don’t argue me. I want you to grasp what I’m about to say. He had never heard the head speak this to him before, so it sent a chill through his body. The seriousness and significance of what he was about to hear dawned on him instantly. “Well, sir, I am all ears.” he said. -You have to accompany Walid back to his house by yourself, quietly, and without making any disturbance. Walid is a special boy for a reason that I am still unable explain to you right now. -I know that sir, I get it With a piercing glance, the head repeated: Basel, alone and quietly. He responded with a disapproving face, as if he had only just picked up on the word’s literal meaning, which is to say that it is not a metaphor for secrecy. What do you mean, sir? he exclaimed in surprise. -Without a work team, Basel, you are on your own. It is forbidden for you to utilize your powers or ask the aid of any element, and you are required to find a way to get the youngster back to his home such that no one in the village or any nearby villages, including the boy himself, would find out that you are an Air Force Intelligence officer. He continued: In other words, not even the branch members should feel that we are concerned about him. We got involved, tried to arrest him in front of the entire village, and he ran away, so you just spread a rumor in the branch that you were mistaken and that you sent your members to arrest a boy because of a similarity in names, even though there are no issues with him. We hope that this news spreads quickly and naturally to the village and its residents, and then somehow reaches the boy. -He grinned and said, “But you know, they won’t believe us. They’ll think this is all an ambush to lure him in, as this is how we’ve already lured fugitives in our country, until they see him return to the village and resume his usual life without being attacked by anyone, people won’t believe they’re being honest. And of course, Basel, the situation will be terrifying if we send a team to seek for him. After all, the Air Force Intelligence rarely makes mistakes that negatively impact people before looking for those individuals to make amends and help them resume their regular lives, we didn’t do it before, and we won’t do it now, as doing so would indicate that the boy had an enigmatic quality about him. The mission in front of you is unambiguous, devoid of any aspects, special powers, and identifying characteristics. You’ll visit the village, look for the youngster, and then manage to persuade him to come back as he is security-clean and that what happened that night was a mistake. -Okay sir, I will do that He requested permission before leaving the branch chief’s office, went to his own office, shut the door behind him, and stood in front of the mirror. He only then realized that his mouth had been open the entire time he had been in the chief’s office, gaping in shock at what he had been hearing. What the heck is that boy’s tale, he thought to himself? Is this misfortune a curse? Now what should I do? Should I dress like a shepherd and go searching for him in the wilderness? Nothing to entertain me, not even a partner! Use of my abilities is prohibited! Even if I locate him, how can I convince him to come back if I don’t swear before him that I am an Air Force Intelligence officer, that I was the one who issued the warrant for his arrest, and that I regret it! In front of the mirror, his face grew hot, his chest tightened, and he was barely breathing. Then all of a sudden he remembered that years prior he had been an intelligence officer, and for the first time in his life he felt like one! His entire working career has become a deadly routine that is pointless. He chased after so-and-so because he expressed his dissatisfaction with the President, so-and-so was arrested because he criticized the ruling party, and so-and-so called him asking him for a service to expedite the completion of his papers in a government department, and that prostitute who sleeps with him for free is upset with her neighbor for some reason, and wants to rub her ear, and the bathroom maintenance worker in his mother’s house lingering at work, he called him to make him finish the maintenance faster, and even though she failed the exam, his sister, who is still enrolled in university, wants an honors grade. He called the professor and worked out an arrangement with him. Just remember, he’s a suspended intelligence officer! He has no reason to be here other than the fact that he is from Qardaha and the son of a former intelligence colonel. He is just there so that he may detain and torture anyone who dares to challenge his authority or even question his policy. All of his acquaintances, his family, and his friends don’t require him for anything other than to obtain something that they lack or that they cannot obtain without frightening one of them or putting him in danger of jail. nothing exciting in his life, Instead, if the coffee and tea worker possesses his abilities, he could complete all of his tasks just as well as he could, if not better, since he is identical to him other for the fact that he is not a Qardahi. He sensed exhilaration inside of him and a longing for an intellectual conundrum. Maybe God brought him this boy as a blessing at the proper time instead of a curse. He thinks that his goal should be to discover the boy’s whereabouts as well as the mystery that surrounds him.
