Self-Anesthesia

If Robert says that he slept the whole flight, it means that he closed his eyes, and thought about a matter, he wished all his life that he could sleep on the plane.

His flight had just taken off from Ben Gurion Airport, thinking about everything Mousa said about mind control, he closed his eyes, and began to meditate, remember, think, and review every word they spoke, then opened it with an angelic face shrugging his shoulder,

– Sir, the captain has turned on the seatbelt signal. Landing procedures are in progress!

-what? Landing procedure?

-Yes, sir, you slept the whole flight. Congratulations!

A headache in the front of his head, a slight tremor in his body, abdominal cramps, burnt eyes, still exhausted and wanting to sleep! He wondered if these were symptoms of waking up in an airplane; he had never slept in an airplane.

He got into the bathroom, barely fit, a few bursts of water on his face, remembered he woke up a few times, adjusted his position, thought of looking at the clock, but a voice inside said, no, whatever, go on your sleep. He wanted to go to the bathroom, but the voice said, no, continue your sleep. Like he was in a complete coma, about to swear someone put him dope in his cup! but did not drink anything but a bottle of beer in the airport lounge before takeoff!

He looked in the mirror, his eyes red, not fully conscious, a few more bursts of water, spurting from the perfume bottle by the sink.

The flight attendant knocked on the door: Sir, you must return to your seat, we are in the final landing stage.

Opened the door: Madam, I do not feel well, and he described her the symptoms as he yawned.

The flight attendant: Melatonin, sir, do not worry.

-what? And what is this melatonin?

– She hastily explained to him: It is the sleeping hormone. You slept the whole flight, half a day! Certainly, your brain released large amounts of it, as we have cut off your sleep and its traces are still in your body, it will disappear, but if you feel you need a doctor, I can contact the airport to get an ambulance ready.

-Robert: No, I really feel like it is about sleeping too long, as you said.

-Well, take your seat, please.

All humans experience these symptoms when their sleep is cut off, the melatonin hormone produced by the brain to help them sleep is like a normal hypnotic. If someone cuts off your sleep, you wake up and it’s still all over your body.

But he did not need to sleep, not all that time! And he does not sleep on the plane even if he needs it!

The night before, he slept late, a family night out that lasted until dawn, and got up in the afternoon. He got ready for the flight, and for 12 hours of active work, thinking and planning for the post-come back.

He walked down the corridor to his seat thinking: Why did my brain secrete the hormone for 12 hours, completely numbed me, and made me unable to move, or think all the time! Did he do it to save himself the trouble of thinking, remembering, and analyzing, for half a day of flying? Nothing to do with it but this? But what about the outbound flight? And the previous flights? I thought all the time about complicated issues and did not sleep!

He went back to his seat and put on the seat belt. Out the window, the plane’s body was drowning in random clouds, and as soon as they broke, the Hudson River appeared on his left side, flowing south.

Something flashed in his head, he smiled, he felt the euphoria of control

-Afraid? are you scared? That is why you drugged me the whole flight? Yes, you are afraid, not because of the occasional waste of cells on a flight that is bound to end, but because of what Mousa said about the red lines, which I am forbidden to cross. Well, we will see what punishment for this insolence is.

What is wrong with me! Did I start thinking like him? He laughed at himself, damn me.

He shook his head, remembering Christine, imagining the expression on her face as he would tell her about what Mousa had said, and then he laughed audibly.

-A woman’s voice sitting next to him: Memories?

-He turned to her: Excuse me, what?

-The lady: good memories, that is why you are laughing?

-He turned his head forward and his eyes bulged… damn

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[129

post-1188","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-zero-moment-english-online
["GET
